The new Amery Fire hall, built in 2004, is now represented in Google Earth.
The Amery Fire Department hosts a great chili feed over Christmas. So thanks to the men and women of the Amery Fire Department, for their honorable service, and the tasty eats! :) And, I watched the city council meeting on TV last week. Congratulations on the new Fire Truck being built in Osceola.
I'll continue putting Amery On The Map!

New Model Preview: Club 53 Bowling Bar and Grill
Another new model has been posted for Amery, in Google Earth. This time it's the Club 53 Bowling Bar.
With the addition of this very recognizable landmark building, the virtual Amery streetscape is looking more complete!
As always, you can preview the model at 3D Warehouse, or wait two weeks and see it live in Google Earth, when the submission is approved. Cheers!

New Model Preview. Amery Classic Theater!
I'd been waiting for a good time to do this model of the Amery Classics Theater. The historic building was recently bestowed a commemorative marker. So, in honor of the refinishing work being done now, here is the Amery Theater, as it looked before the facade was restored.
You can download it now, here http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/details?mid=1685527c8ab7e981948231384dfc6089
Or wait two weeks, and begin seeing it live in GE automatically.

Announcement: Google Earth Imagery Update!
Being the guy putting Amery On The Map, I may be one of the first to have noticed, Google has just released a GREAT new map imagery update!
Much of Wisconsin's Polk, Barron, Saint Croix and Pierce counties have been updated with beautiful high resolution imagery captured this fall (2012).

Updated map imagery outlined in red.
The new imagery looks fantastic! And is a welcomed, dramatic change, from the way it looked when I started in Amery. For example, the new Soo Line Trailhead Pavilion is now visible, where previously it was not built yet.
Combined with Google Earth 7's new high accuracy terrain models, Virtual Amery is looking very good these days. All this should inspire me to build a few more buildings for Google Earth. Stay tuned!

Welcome to "Amery On The Map"!
As an artist, I'm currently engaged in a fun effort to construct a virtual Amery Wisconsin within Google Earth.
I've conceived it as an affordable (and super cool) marketing solution, for businesses on main street. And, as an innovative promotional device for city tourism. But, I've just been going along and building it up without awaiting paying clients.
The Amery Wisconsin visualizations are still in very early stages. It's starting to come together quite nicely! I've been posting updates to a facebook page, but I'm starting this blog because updates will look a bit better here.
To date, I've submitted 15 models, from Centennial Hall, to North Park. The collection can be found at the GOOGLE 3D WAREHOUSE. This is where you'll get a first look. Or, you can just wait and view approved submissions in Google Earth, proper. It takes about 2 weeks for new models to be approved. Once they are, your listing is global! The world will be able to find you. Most times, I'll include a link from the model to your website (when available).
I'm putting Amery on the map!
Thank you for enjoying my efforts.
